Watford AAU

We have developed an approach to training that provides all members of the team (our own staff, members of our supply chain, our NHS Clients staff and consultants) working on P21 Projects with the knowledge and skills necessary to understand the P21 Framework and to work effectively in their roles as part of an integrated project team. We achieve this by providing a suite of training courses through the Medicinq Academy; these courses have been developed by training consultants specializing in a framework approach to construction projects and the New Engineering Contract (NEC). The consultants carrying out the training have substantial experience delivering projects under framework contracts and the courses incorporate this practical experience.

ProCure21 has recognised that ineffective management of risk leads to poorer value for money for NHS Trusts.  It has therefore developed Design and Risk Tool (DART) to identify, quantify and manage risk out.

DART integrates the preferred design solution (AEDET Design Evaluation Profile) with the associated Risk Profile (Risk DART Board) and evaluates effects of the risk on the design.  It does this by superimposing the Showstopper Risks onto an AEDET profile and the consequential change of profile highlights the potential effect of the risk.  Risk champions are then appointed to manage risk out and hence maintain an acceptable DART profile.  Sequential DARTs over the lifecycle of the scheme ensure design quality and the associated risk profiles are managed effectively.  DART highlights areas where the design needs to be changed to mitigate risk and whether the design therefore supports the non-financial assessments required in business cases.

The joint training and courses are usually scheduled at the beginning of a new project. This supports our culture of collaborative working and achieving good team working by making sure that all members of the team have the same level of understanding of the Framework, NEC and their role in delivery the project.
