Construction of a treatment centre which will carry out 16,000 orthopaedic operations over the next five years. including converting a warehouse-style building on Plymouth International Business Park, Derriford, into the South West Peninsula Orthopaedic Treatment Centre.

Vision: To support existing NHS services and providing patients with more choices and to reduce waiting times.
Challenge: To create a pleasant environment to the latest hospital specifications. A building that facilitated good working practices and efficient working. Due to this being a new government venture it was vital that communication between all parties was clear and consistent.
Solution: To involve staff at the early stage of the development to ensure work flows were correct. A clear communication strategy throughout the duration of the project was needed.
Benefit: The design incorporated space for a third operating theatre which provides future flexibilities and the design is light and airy enhancing the patients overall experience.
