Value: £12.5m
Programme: 64 weeks
Principal Supply Chain Partner: Medicinq
Architect: P&HS Architects Ltd
Services Engineer: Couch Perry Wilkes Ltd
Vision:
To provide a new LINAC facility for 2 LINAC machines, one Tomotherapy unit and a bunker for future expansion with associated pre-treatment areas. This will enable the targets set by the Department of Health for treatment of patients to be met by the Trust.
Challenge:
To agree a site location with the correct adjacencies on a congested hospital campus. To meet planning requirements for energy use and P21 requirements for a BREEAM Excellent rating. To agree the design of the bunkers to be suitable for installation of LINAC machines from a range of providers.
Solution:
Medicinq Simons worked with the Trust to agree a site location that would be acceptable to the Planners. This involved demolition of decrepit prefabricated units to free an area suitable for redevelopment. We have engaged with all of the Trust preferred Linac manufacturers to develop a design that is capable of housing any of the currently available LINAC machines. Medicinq Simons have used BREEAM advisors from within our supply chain to ensure that the design of the unit and the proposed CHP plant achieve the Excellent rating required.
Benefit:
The Trust will be able to meet the Department of Health requirements for treatment of patients in a purpose built facility that allows for future expansion.
