Vision
Redevelopment of the Royal South Hants Site in Southampton into a modern community hospital, comprising three distinct areas of work.
- New Main Entrance and site reconfigurations.
- Remodelling of Wards creating a new Community Hospital.
- Refurbishment of Therapies Department.
Challenge
To undertake a complicated series of refurbishment projects on a live hospital site on which is also being developed an Independent Sector Treatment Centre and a £20m Adult Mental Health Unit. To deliver the construction solutions in parallel with the development of the design proposals and GMP, without exposing the Trust to unnecessary risks. To deliver design solutions with minimum derogations from HBNs / HTMs in existing facilities.
Solution
By appointing Medicinq Osborne, who were already working with the Trust to deliver the Adult Mental Health Unit, we were able to co-ordinate site wide logistics to minimise disruption to patients and staff and ensure a safe clinical environment. This was also assisted by our extensive out of hours working and fast track programming during critical operational phases for the Trust.
Benefit
Minimal disruption on an already congested city centre site, ensuring patient and staff confidence at all times. Delivery of fast track programming, both in terms of design and delivery enabling the Trust to meet its commercial obligations to a 3rd party ISTC provider.
